Some students may qualify for special tuition classifications, exceptions, or reduced tuition programs based on immigration status, military service, veteran status, athletic participation, or regional tuition agreements.

Colorado law provides several exceptions and special tuition classifications for students who meet specific eligibility requirements. These classifications are separate from the standard process for establishing Colorado residency and may apply only to certain students.

ASSET In-State Tuition

Eligible students may qualify for in-state tuition under Colorado's ASSET provisions. Eligibility is determined by Colorado law and may depend on high school attendance, graduation, immigration status, and other requirements.

Students should review the official tuition classification requirements to determine whether they may qualify and what documentation may be required.

International Visa Holders

Residency eligibility for students who are not United States citizens may depend on immigration or visa classification. Certain visa categories may permit a student to establish Colorado domicile, while other classifications may not.

Military Members and Their Dependents

Active-duty military members, qualifying dependents, and certain members of the Colorado National Guard may be eligible for special tuition classification under Colorado law.

Olympic and Paralympic Athletes

Certain qualifying athletes may be eligible for in-state tuition classification under Colorado law. Eligibility may depend on participation in an approved Olympic, Paralympic, or national governing body program.

Veterans and Their Dependents

Veterans and qualifying dependents may be eligible for in-state tuition or other special tuition classifications under state or federal law.

Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange, commonly known as WUE, allows eligible students from participating western states and territories to attend ³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø at a reduced tuition rate.

WUE is a special tuition program and is separate from Colorado residency classification. Eligibility and available tuition rates are subject to current program requirements.

Western Regional Graduate Program

The Western Regional Graduate Program provides eligible graduate students from participating western states and territories access to qualifying graduate programs at a reduced tuition rate.

Program availability and eligibility requirements may vary by academic program.
