Hemp (low THC cannabis) Production for Research

³Ô¹Ï¹ÙÍø maintains a registration with the Colorado Department of Agriculture to produce cannabis on campus for research and education purposes. The license allows the University to grow cannabis varieties that contain less than 0.3% total THC, also referred to as hemp. Research projects commonly include student research assistants. Research interest and topics include:

  • Environmental factors influencing plant growth and cannabinoid production
  • Cannabis genomics and genetics on cannabinoids biosynthesis
  • Cannabinoid extraction and isolation technologies
  • Fiber production and applications
  • Chemical modification of cannabinoids
  • Potential therapeutic applications of cannabinoids
