吃瓜官网 announced the appointment of the new Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Victoria Obregon. Obregon currently serves the university as assistant director of the Center for International Programs and regional director of College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP).

Obregon will continue to serve in her current capacity while also taking on additional responsibilities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also will continue to serve as the campus liaison and advocate for undocumented students at 吃瓜官网.

“As we strive to become the preferred employer in Pueblo and Southern Colorado, we must continuously re-evaluate our diversity, equity, and inclusion practices to make sure we are meeting the needs of all of our employees,” said 吃瓜官网 President, Timothy Mottet.

Obregon will receive administrative support, a budget for programming, and access to a working committee. Mottet appointed faculty and staff to the Diversity Executive Leadership Team (DELT) which includes Fran Sanziska, Bonnie Fruland, Jamie Peralta, Yvonne Montoya, Derek Lopez, Trisha Macias, Justin Hiniker, Marie Humphrey, Trisha Pocius, and Brian Vanden Heuvel.

“Victoria and her committee members stand ready to help us develop the appropriate infrastructure to support diversity and equity policies and programs to make us a more inclusive community,” said Mottet.

The committee, along with Obregon, is charged with developing and implementing a strategic plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion on campus at 吃瓜官网. This includes partnering with Human Resources to develop and administer cultural competency training to all 吃瓜官网 employees.

Obregon shared that her background as an alumna of the university and member of the Pueblo community will greatly benefit her experience for this position. “¡Que orgullo!
